TP Vision, who produces Philips TVs in Europe, today announced its intentions to return to the number one spot in the European TV market.
Four focus areas
Philips was once the market leader in the European TV market but in recent years competitors have overtaken them. The company now hopes to reclaim the spot and challenge especially Korean brands such as Samsung and LG.
- “We will be number one again in Europe” said David Kou, TP Vision General Manager, with reference to the TV market, at Philips’ 2016 launch event in Brussels.

David Kou did not comment on the timeline besides saying “very soon”. He invited the press to receive a status on its progress one year from now.
Kou outlined four areas that will help bring Philips back to the number one spot
1. European Premium Craftsmanship
2. Picture Quality
3. Android TV
4. Sound Solutions
Kou further pointed out that Philips is already making inroads in several other markedet. In China it is now the largest non-Chinese TV brand, and Philips has risen from 14 to 8 in the sales charts over a short period of time. In the Southeast Asian region Philips is now the largest TV brand.
