Sony’s largest OLED TV is also one of the most expensive TVs on the market. The 77” A1 OLED will be available in Europe in late September for 19.999 EUR / Ł19,999, the company has announced at IFA.
77” OLED TV
The A1 range is Sony’s first large-size OLED TV and it seems to be a huge success. Sony has, according to Korean media this week, asked LG.Display to ramp up production of OLED TV panels, suggesting that Sony will increase its bet on the new display technology.
The A1 OLED features 4K resolution and support for three HDR formats. HDR10 and HLG are active now and Dolby Vision will be enabled by a firmware update later this year. The TV is powered by Google’s Android TV platform.
It also features Sony’s unique ’Acoustic Surface’ speaker system that uses the actual OLED panel to produce sound. There is a subwoofer installed on the rear of the stand.

Like Sony, Panasonic and LG have also recently launched 77” OLED TVs. All of them carry hefty price tags and are reserved for the ultra high-end segment of the market. While prices on 55-65” OLED TVs have been steadily declining for some years, 77” models remain extremely costly and cannot yet compete with large-size LCD TVs on price.
The 77” Sony A1 OLED will be available in Europe in late September for around 19.999 EUR / Ł19,999, depending on your region. It is already available in the US for $20000.
