Disney has confirmed that its streaming service, Disney+, will be available on Apple TV, Android TV, Roku, game consoles, and mobile devices but seemingly not Smart TVs and FireTV. USA, Canada, and the Netherlands will be the first to gain access.
Disney+ launch plans
Disney+ will launch in the US, Canada, and the Netherlands on November 12. It will launch in Australia and New Zealand one week later. Launch plans for other regions will be announced later.
We now also have a Euro price. In the Netherlands, Disney+ will cost 7 Euro per month, or 70 Euro per year, and there is good chance that this will apply to other European countries, too.

No Smart TV apps?
Furthermore the company has named the devices and platforms that will get a Disney+ app at launch.

It is worth noting that FireTV is absent, despite being one of the biggest TV platforms in the US. The list does not cover Smart TVs from Samsung (Tizen), LG (webOS) or Panasonic (MyHomeScreen) either. Of course, it is possible that Disney will add additional platforms to its list before launch. Video content will be available to stream in up to 4K HDR. Disney+ will also support downloads.
In addition, the company said that its content will be visible from the Apple TV app but not as a "channel" initially. It means that you can browse Disney's content from the Apple TV app but content will not be hosted on Apple's servers so you will be transferred to the Disney+ app after pressing play.
Disney+ is one of several new streaming services to launch in the coming months. Later this year, Apple will launch Apple TV+ and next year Warnermedia will launch HBO Max.
Disney is expected to reveal more about its plans later this week at the D23 conference.
