First launched in South Korea in April 2019 - and not as an April Fools' Day joke - Samsung will be expanding availability of its vertical 'The Sero' TV to global markets in 2020.

The Sero is part of Samsung's lifestyle line-up that also includes The Frame and Serif TVs. Like a smartphone, it can pivot between horizontal and vertical orientation. The Sero means "vertical" in Korean. Following its debut in South Korea last year, Samsung announced at CES 2020 that it will make The Sero available in global markets in 2020.

- "Geared toward millennial and Gen Z consumers, The Sero features a modern design that stands out in any space, and includes a range of different display features that extend functionality when it is not in use," said Samsung. "Consumers can expect to enjoy a variety of content – including social media, YouTube and other personal videos – in whatever display orientation mirrors their mobile device." The Sero has won a 'Best of Innovation' award at CES 2020. It features an LCD panel and a 4.1 channel audio system with a combined output of 40W that doubles as a music system when the screen in not in use. It is also possible to display two pictures on top of each other in vertical format.
