Apple TV app lands on Android TV with TV+ & iTunes movies

After bringing its app to Google TV and many other platforms, Apple has now made it available widely on Android TV devices via the Google Play store. Google says that Android TV reaches 80 million active devices. On Nvidia Shield – a direct competitor to the Apple TV box – the app supports streaming in up to 4K Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos. The app is also available on TVs like those from Philips, TCL and Hisense, although audio/video support will vary from device to device. Philips confirms that Dolby Vision and Atmos are also enabled on its TVs. Sony had struck a separate deal to make the app available on their Android TVs ahead of time. Google said that the app requires a device running Android 8.0 or later. It supports simple voice commands with Google Assistant. The app can be downloaded from Google Play here.
