LG has announced that its new high-end LCD TVs, known as "QNED", will roll out worldwide starting in July. QNED99 and QNED95 feature 8K resolution whereas QNED90 is a line of 4K TVs.
LCD with miniLED
Like Samsung's "QLED" LCD, LG is now selling its top LCD TVs as "QNED", short for Quantum Nanocell miniLED, according to LG. These are the company's first LCD TVs with miniLED backlight plus local dimming.
The models were announced in January and they will be available in July. At launch, LG is rolling out the 65- to 86-inch QNED99 and QNED95 with 8K resolution and the 65- to 86-inch QNED90 with 4K resolution. The 86-inch model has 30,000 LEDs and about 2500 dimming zones. The smaller sizes will have fewer dimming zones but LG did not disclose exact details.

The TVs also feature HDMI 2.1 for 4K120 and VRR (QNED90 only), HDR support (HDR10, HLG, Dolby Vision), Dolby Atmos support, and webOS 6.0. Additional information and specifications can be found in the table below. Click the model name to learn more about each model.

The company emphasized that it still sees OLED as its flagship display technology for TV. The new "QNED" LCD TVs are seemingly designed as a direct alternative to arch rival Samsung's "QLED" LCD TVs as well as other top LCD TVs from the likes of TCL and Sony.
LG said that the TVs will initially be available in North America followed by additional regions around the world in the coming weeks.
