Last month, Netflix announced plans to support HDR10+ alongside HDR10 and Dolby Vision. We are now getting more clarity on the rollout.
In March, Netflix said that HDR10+ will be available only on devices that support both HDR10+ and AV1 decoding. Devices compatible with Dolby Vision will continue to receive Dolby Vision streams.
Netflix also noted that around 50% of its most-watched content has been encoded in HDR10+ so far, with the full HDR catalog expected to support HDR10+ by the end of 2025.
HDR10+ on 2025 Samsung TVs
However, beyond requiring AV1 and HDR10+, Netflix has not shared a full list of supported devices. Partners are now beginning to confirm details of a phased rollout.
- "HDR10+ content on Netflix will be accessible on 2025 Samsung Neo QLED, OLED and Lifestyle TVs — as well as 2025 and 2024 monitor models — with support for additional models in the future," said Samsung.
Other TVs
Samsung did not provide a timeline for when 2024 and earlier TVs will gain access to Netflix’s HDR10+ streams. As noted in the TV Database, Samsung TVs dating back to 2020 support both AV1 and HDR10+.
HDR10+ uses scene-by-scene metadata to improve HDR picture quality.
Manufacturers such as Google, Panasonic, Philips and TCL have yet to comment on support for Netflix's HDR10+.

Meanwhile, devices like Apple TV 4K (3rd Gen), which support HDR10+ but lack AV1 hardware decoding, are unlikely to receive HDR10+ from Netflix. They will get served Dolby Vision or HDR10 instead.
