LG will continue to focus on OLED TVs but will also offer LCD TVs with RGB LED backlight technology next year.
The teaser appeared in LG's press release announcing all the CES 2026 Innovation Awards it has received ahead of January's show in Las Vegas.
- "Other LG products recognized by the CES 2026 Innovation Awards include a premium LCD TV with Micro RGB technology," said LG Electronics.
OLED and LCD TVs
In other words, LG will continue to offer both OLED TVs and high-end LCD TVs to compete with brands like Samsung, which will also sell both types, as well as Hisense and TCL, who still primarily focus on LCD TVs.
'Micro RGB', also known as RGB LED, is a more advanced LED backlight technology for LCD TVs than miniLED. It replaces single-color LEDs with red, green and blue LEDs, which are more energy-efficient and enable a wider color gamut approaching Rec.2020.
Hisense and Samsung have already launched super-sized LCD TVs with RGB LED and plan to release more affordable models in 2026 alongside Sony. TCL has also unveiled its first RGB LED models in China, which are expected to reach other regions later.

LG at CES 2026
In its announcement, LG said that its Signature OLED T (transparent OLED TV) has received a CES 2026 Best of Innovation Award – a bit unusual considering it was already the highlight of last year's CES 2025.
LG did not provide any hints about its 2026 OLED TV lineup.
In 2026, we can also look forward to LG's 6K LCD monitor with Thunderbolt 5 – which was also featured at CES 2025.
