After an initial rollout in North America in late 2025, Google's new AI assistant is now also making its way to Europe, starting with TCL's Google TVs.
Gemini replaces Google Assistant as Google's new, more capable AI-powered voice assistant, competing on TVs with Amazon's Alexa+, Samsung's new Bixby and perhaps soon Apple's Siri AI.
- "With Google Gemini, users can interact with TCL TVs more naturally by just using their voice, making it easier to discover content, ask questions, control compatible smart home devices, play music, or access personalised recommendations. Google TV with Gemini also supports more conversational search, helping viewers refine what they want to watch without needing exact titles or direct commands," explain the companies.
Rollout in Europe
It has now been announced that the rollout of Gemini has begun in Europe, gradually and expected to take many weeks or even months. TCL is first out of the gate, with the high-end X11L, C8L, C7L, RM9L and RM7L among the first 2026 models to receive it.
Later, Gemini will expand to TCL's mid-range and entry-level 2026 Google TV models, although some will require a firmware update to Android 14 first. The Gemini update itself is delivered automatically over the air directly by Google and does not require new firmware.

TCL will also bring Gemini to select older models including but not limited to X11K, C9K, C8K, C7K, C6K and P8K from 2025 as well as the X955 from 2024. These models are all powered by the Pentonic 700 chip.

More brands and devices later
No timeline has been provided for other TV brands in Europe, but in North America Gemini is also supported on the Google TV Streamer.
For now, Gemini is limited to English and French language support but Google is promising wider support later this year. Gemini was also recently expanded to let users control TV settings by voice.
- "By late 2026, Gemini for TV will expand to additional Google TV devices with Android 14 or higher and at least 2 GB of RAM and more languages and regions," said Google.
