Google has announced a 50% price hike for Google TV Streamer. You can still buy at the old price but you have to act fast.
If you are considering buying new electronics for yourself or as a Christmas gift for someone else, you may want to act soon.
PlayStation 5 Pro is currently sold out in many regions, while prices for the other consoles are rising. Computers are getting more expensive and supplies are falling short. Apple TV 4K and other media players have also already seen significant price increases.
A more expensive Google TV Streamer
It was therefore only a matter of time before the successor to Chromecast, known as Google TV Streamer, also saw a price increase.
Google has announced a 50% price increase, initially in the US, where the price is rising from $100 to $150, but expect it to also rise in other countries soon.
- "Due to rising component costs, we are adjusting the U.S. pricing of select Google Nest cameras, doorbells and Google TV streamer 4K, effective August 31. We remain committed to providing our customers with industry-leading smart home security and continuous feature updates," Google told 9to5Google.
By comparison, Apple TV 4K has increased by up to 67%, Roku by up to 60%, Amazon Fire TV by up to 43% and Walmart Onn by up to 102%. The increases are due to rising costs for memory chips.

Buy before the price rises
Google TV Streamer is still available at its original price on Amazon in the US, and outside the US through Google and retail partners.
That is unlikely to last for long, however, so buy before it is too late if Google TV Streamer is on your wishlist:
