Toshiba CEVO TV is technological monster

Toshiba exhibited an early model of the so-called CEVO TV at IFA. CEVO is based on the Cell TV that we previously mentioned. Toshiba CEVO has been designed by Danish Jacob Jensen Design and aims to deliver excellent  picture quality based on some of the most advanced TV technology today.

Toshiba CEVO TV
Toshiba has plans to increase their engagement in the flat-panel TV market and will do so with the two new WL768 and VL748 series, and with the coming CEVO TV that will be launched in 2011. CEVO will arrive in 55 inches called 55ZL1 and FlatpanelsHD has the first details.

CEVO TV is an abbreviation of Cell Evolution TV and indicates that it builds on the Cell processors that you know from the PlayStaton 3. Basically Toshiba has taken these Cell processors and integrated them into the CEVO TV to provide it with enough power for some brutal picture processing.

CEVO is based on a LCD panel with Full LED backlight. This also means that local dimming is enabled and the 55 inch version has 512 individual zones. CEVO also features 400 Hz, and a range of multimedia services such as internet, recording, DLNA, etc.

At the IFA Toshiba unveiled the two WL768 and VL748 models, designed by Jacob Jensen Design. Toshiba CEVO TV has also been designed by same Timothy Jacob Jensen.

That means clean, minimalistic lines and attention to detail. The choice of material is glass and metal.

The TV is not as slim as the slimmest today because of the backlit LED panel but Jacob Jensen Design has still managed to create a sleek and stylish TV.

Top notch 3D picture quality
Toshiba aims to deliver the best 3D picture quality with their CEVO TV, and therefore they have dedicated a Cell processor just to process the 3D feeds.

The Cell processor also handles the 2D-to-3D conversion whcih should be quite good according to people who have seen it.

Coming 2011
Toshiba CEVO TV is launching in Europe in 2011. It will come in 55 inches and will be called 55ZL1. The price is not official yet but Toshiba says that we should expect it to cost around 5000 Euro.
