Much has been written and said about Google’s plans to launch a TV box and game console after the failed Google TV project. Google is reportedly aiming to release an Android-based Nexus TV box in the first half of 2014.

The TV box will run Android, an anonymous Google employee told The Information. It will – like other TV boxes out there – offer TV apps such as Netflix and YouTube, but will also offer a selection of video games for the big screen.

In recent years and months, the so-called Android sticks have gained momentum and we have also seen several Android-based game consoles such as the OUYA. It appears that Google wants to combine these trends into one product that will launch under the name Nexus TV. The Nexus brand is already used on Google’s smartphones and tablets that are produced in collaboration with a hardware partner.
The source concludes by says that Google aims to launch Nexus TV in the first half of 2014, and that it will be "aggressively priced".
