LG has started rolling out webOS 24 for its 2022 OLED models. The new firmware also adds Dolby Vision Filmmaker Mode, Chromecast (Google Cast), and more.
Update: The webOS 24 firmware is now also rolling out to B2, according to multiple reports by owners.
In late 2023, LG finally committed to upgrading webOS in select older TV models after nearly a decade of resistance to OS updates. The change is part of the company's strategy to introduce more ad formats on TVs, including screensaver ads.
The company began rolling out webOS 24 – first introduced with its 2024 models – to 2023 TVs in October. Now, the update is gradually being released worldwide for the first 2022 OLED models: C2, G2, LX1 and LX3.
Chromecast, Dolby Vision Filmmaker Mode, more
Firmware version 23.20.56 for 2022 models introduces webOS 24, which has a streamlined interface as well as built-in Google Cast (Chromecast) support for wireless casting of media content from phones or tablets onto the TV.

Additional new features include Filmmaker Mode for Dolby Vision content (previously limited to SDR and HDR10) and LG's Always Ready feature with screensavers.
The classic fireworks screensaver also makes a return, automatically starting after 3 minutes, after being broken in earlier firmware versions.
Update rollout and future plans
The webOS 24 update is being rolled out on schedule for 2022 models, as outlined by LG to FlatpanelsHD.
More 2022 models will receive the update in the coming weeks and months. To avoid overwhelming servers, the update is staggered, according to LG, so users will need to wait their turn or instead download the firmware manually from their local LG support page when it becomes available.
Owners of 2022 LG OLED models can expect webOS 25 in 2026 and webOS 26 in 2027, roughly nine months or more after the latest version debuts on new TV models. webOS 25 will be revealed next week at CES 2025.
