The new Sharp GK and GM ranges will for the first time feature the new TiVo OS platform as an alternative to the TV maker's Google TV and Roku TV models.
FlatpanelsHD provided a first look at TiVo OS in our report from November 2023, and now Sharp is launching its first TiVo OS models in Europe.
Sharp's GM6000 and GK4000 ranges are available in 43 to 70 inches. They are inexpensive entry-level and mid-range 60Hz LCD TVs with 4K resolution, with GM6000 having quantum dots (QLED). Specifications can be found in the table.
Alternative to Google, Roku
With the launch of TiVo-based Smart TVs, Sharp is joining Panasonic who also recently launched its first Smart TVs with TiVo OS.

Like Panasonic, Sharp will continue to offer TV models based on other operating systems, including Google TV and Roku TV. It is part of a trend of TV makers offering consumers a choice of TV operating system rather than putting all eggs in the same basket.

TiVo OS is described as a "content-first" platform with voice search and recommendations. The user can search for specific titles and see on which platforms the title is available. However, not all streaming services are included or even supported, with a notable exception being the Apple TV app. Many local streaming services are also missing.
Sharp's GM and GK series are available now in the UK and will soon expand to more European countries. In the UK, prices range from £280 to £650 in 43 to 70 inches.
