10 years of webOS
Originally developed by Palm, LG acquired webOS from Hewlett Packard in 2013, and turned it into its own operating system for TVs the next year.
In its early years, webOS was built around a simple bottom bar, providing access to streaming services, but it has since transformed into a full-screen interface with content hubs and more features.
LG's webOS is today competing in a crowded market of TV operating systems alongside Samsung's Tizen, Amazon's Fire OS, Roku OS, Google TV, Titan OS, TiVo OS, and Apple's tvOS.
This year, LG has finally committed to upgrading webOS in some existing models. New LG TVs will also receive webOS upgrades in the future.
