30 Aug 2024 | Rasmus Larsen |

Starting September 9, owners of LG TVs can enjoy up to 3 months of free access to Apple TV+ and Apple Music, along with discounts on Prime Video, Paramount+, Dazn, Blacknut and more.

The campaign marks a decade of LG’s webOS TV operating system. It is available to owners of webOS Smart TVs with 4K resolution from 2018 onwards, covering both LCD and OLED models in 44 countries.

- "LG is announcing the LG Streaming Week campaign in 44 countries, starting from September 9 and running through October 13, to celebrate a decade since the initial launch of webOS on the company’s LCD and OLED TVs," it was announced in a press release. "Each promotional week will feature a different global and local partner line-up, with each partner limited offer accessible and redeemable solely on a weekly basis, from the LG Streaming Week app."

3-month free Apple TV+ and Apple Music

Beyond the weekly offers, LG has partnered with Apple to provide extended access to Apple TV+ and Apple Music. Users can get up to 3 months of free access, depending on their region. The Apple TV+ offer will run until November 17 and is available directly from the Apple TV app on LG TVs in over 90 markets. The Apple Music offer is available until April 20, 2025, directly from the Apple Music app on LG TVs in 137 markets. Both offers will begin on September 9.

    10 years of webOS

Originally developed by Palm, LG acquired webOS from Hewlett Packard in 2013, and turned it into its own operating system for TVs the next year. In its early years, webOS was built around a simple bottom bar, providing access to streaming services, but it has since transformed into a full-screen interface with content hubs and more features. LG's webOS is today competing in a crowded market of TV operating systems alongside Samsung's Tizen, Amazon's Fire OS, Roku OS, Google TV, Titan OS, TiVo OS, and Apple's tvOS. This year, LG has finally committed to upgrading webOS in some existing models. New LG TVs will also receive webOS upgrades in the future.
