Today Apple has released a new 27-inch LED Cinema Display as a larger alternative to the current 24-inch LED Cinema Display. The new 27-inch monitor has a massive 2560x1440 resolution and a LED backlight. The price? 999 USD.

Apple has released a 27-inch LED Cinema Display. We actually reported this in March 2010 but now the new Apple monitor is official.

The design is identical to the smaller 24-inch version and looks a lot like the iMacs, just without the lower part. This means a glossy front and a black edge around the panel. The stand is very minimalistic and stylish and allows the user to tilt the screen. The cabinet is made from aluminum without joints.

Connected through Mini DisplayPort
The monitor is connected through mini DisplayPort and also has an integrated USB hub. In the top there’s an iSight camera with a microphone. Apple has also included 2.1 built-in speakers.

The 27-inch LED Cinema Display will utilize the same IPS panel as the 24-inch LED Cinema Display and it has a massive resolution of 2560x1440 pixels in the 16:9 aspect ratio. The panel will incorporate a LED backlight that should reduce power consumption considerably and make the monitor thinner.

Apple also mentions 12 ms response time, 1000:1 contrast ratio, 375 cd/m2 brightness, and 178/178 viewing angles.
