Logitech is in a bad shape and the Harmony remotes are not selling well. In the quarterly report, Logitech said that they have “initiated the process” of selling the Harmony remote control division.

Logitech’s universal Harmony remotes were once a very popular solution for people looking to clean up the living room tablet. That has changed.
Logitech has therefore started the process of selling off its remote control division, along with the video security division. Sales of the Harmony remotes has fallen 55 % on a unit basis. Revenue has went down 24 % as the higher-priced Harmony Touch was introduced.

This will surely be seen as a loss for some consumers but as TVs and other living room devices continue to embrace the internet and the interaction with smartphones and tablets, remote controlling becomes a different, more intelligent process that to some point eliminates the need for physical remote control sticks.
Logitech also plans to discontinue the video game console peripherals and speaker docks division. All this bad news comes on top of Logitech’s failed bet on Google TV boxes that started the bitter decline.
