Google has unveiled the Nexus Player; a small media streamer box with the new Android TV platform with TV apps, games & voice search. It is manufactured by Asus.
Google Nexus Player
Google wants Android on your TV and back in June they announced the Android TV platform with apps for the TV. The Nexus Player is the first device to use Android TV.
The Nexus Player is a small black box not unlike the Apple TV. It will offer TV apps from the Google Play Store on the big screen and will also incorporate Chromecast that allows you to swipe content from your mobile onto the big screen.

The box comes with a small remote with only a few buttons and the idea is to use your voice for search. The box also includes 8GB of storage for apps and games, and 802.11ac WiFi, which is faster than what most devices use nowadays.
Google’s Nexus Player will be available for $99 and a game controller for $39. It will be available to pre-order on Friday exclusively through the Google Play Store. No words on a shipping date.

Android TV will also be available in other media streamer boxes as well as Smart TVs from Sony, Sharp and Philips.
