Vizio has been the best-selling TV brand in the US for several quarters in recent years. The company was the first major manufacturer to put 3D to rest, and it has now released a video that mocks the curved TV trend. Vizio clearly believes that the curved TV is another miss.
Is the curve another miss?
We asked, “Does the world need curved TVs?”. Vizio apparently feels much the same way. The company has released an infomercial mocking curved TVs.
The video appears to be targeted mostly at Samsung, one of Vizio’s main rivals in the US market. It is lighthearted, sarcastic and includes a set of “Anti-Curve glasses”, but Vizio also lists some of the real issues with curved TVs that we wrote about in our own article.
Curved TVs started appearing in 2013 but it was not until 2014 it became a major trend as Samsung started selling most of its high-end TVs as curved models.
Vizio clearly thinks that the curved TV is another miss with no real value. We will know whether others agree when CES 2015 kicks off in early January. Will the curved TV trend be as short-lived as the 3D trend?
