There will be no new Evolution Kits for owners of Samsung’s Smart TVs in 2016. Instead Samsung will release a software update to bring some 2016 features to the 2015 TVs with Tizen. This was confirmed in an interview with Rec.dk.
No new Evolution Kits in 2016
In 2012, Samsung launched the first TVs with the Evolution port that allowed customers of high-end Samsung Smart TVs to upgrade the hardware, software, and ports of the TV every year through the purchase of a so-called Evolution Kit.
The company promised to release new Evolution Kits until at least 2016. It seems that they have given up on it one year early. The writing was probably already on the wall when Samsung decided to forget about the SEK-3000 last year.

In an interview, Samsung’s Michael Zoeller, Vice President and European Head of Visual Display, confirms that there will be no new 2016 Evolution Kit for owners of existing Samsung Smart TV.
Instead Samsung will release a software update for 2015 Tizen-based TVs. It is not clear what this update will feature but at CES 2016 Samsung announced several IoT-related features as well as a new menu that recommends content from each app or channel for its 2016 Smart TVs.
The update will not be released to owners of TVs from 2014 and earlier.
