The monitor was unveiled in late 2015 and will be available to buy in Europe and the US starting this month. Philips says that it is the first PC monitor to utilize quantum dot technology to expand the color space and reduce power consumption at an affordable price.

Quantum dot technology has already found its way into TVs and the next step appears to be PC monitors. Philips’s 27-inch 276E6ADS is the first of its kind, says the company.
Philips explains that the display can reproduce 99% of the AdobeRGB color space, which is used by professionals working in various fields. Philips’ monitor is certainly not the first to support the full AdobeRGB gamut but the monitor is significantly cheaper than most comparable monitors.
At the same time, quantum dot technology reduces power consumption by 25%, according to the company. Philips believes that the monitor is a good choice for people working with graphics, photography and video.
The 27-inch monitor incorporates an IPS panel with 1920x1080 pixel resolution. It is part of Philips’ E-Line that has a white, glossy finish and a silver base. Instead of physical buttons it offers touch buttons integrated into the frame.
Philips 276E6ADSS is available now in the US and will hit stores in Europe within weeks.
