Sony has unveiled an affordable range of 4K TVs that will extend the European 2017 TV line-up. XE70 will be available from July 2017 in four screen sizes and several design variants.
Affordable 4K TVs
XE70 will be Sony’s most affordable 4K TV in 2017. Sizes range from 43 to 65 inches and Sony will sell three design variants called XE7002, XE7003, and XE7004.
- “The XE70 Series has an elegant minimalist design with a narrow frame featuring an aluminium finish and a clever cable management solution that allows cables to be neatly arranged across the back of the TV and channelled into the unique stand for a tidy look,” the company said.
Despite being an affordable TV, XE70 will still support HDR (High Dynamic Range). Sony did not specify numbers for peak brightness and color gamut, and neither did it comment on which formats are supported. HDR10 should be a sure bet but the question is whether HLG is also included. We are chasing more information.
The company says that XE70 is powered by the 4K X-Reality Pro picture engine. It also has MotionFlow processing built-in.
No Android inside
Unlike the rest of Sony’s 2017 4K models, XE70 is not based on Google’s Android operating system. However, it will still offer some of the most popular apps.
Sony confirms that XE70 has Netflix, Amazon, and YouTube apps integrated. The Netflix and Amazon apps support streaming in up to 4K resolution and HDR (High Dynamic Range).
