Earlier this month, Panasonic launched the flagship EZ1000 OLED. The EZ950 – EZ952 in the UK – is a more affordable option that features some of the same systems developed for EZ1000. It is now available in Europe.
A more affordable Panasonic OLED
Panasonic EZ952 starts at Ł3000 in the UK, and EZ950 starts at €3499 in most other European countries. It is not cheap but actually one of the most affordable 2017 OLED TVs so far.
In 2017, Panasonic needs to step up its game to compete. After launching the CZ950 two years ago as one of the only alternatives to LG’s OLED TVs, Panasonic will with EZ950 – and the flagship EZ1000 – face stiff competition in the OLED TV segment from LG, Sony, Philips, Loewe, and later this year Bang & Olufsen. Of course, this is great news for consumers in a market that has been dominated by LG for a few years now.

EZ950 features many of the technologies that were developed for the flagship EZ1000, including the HCX2 video engine, 4K resolution, and HDR (High Dynamic Range). The company has chosen to put its weight behind the two open HDR formats, namely HDR10 and HLG.

On the other hand, Panasonic continues to ignore Dolby Vision that competitors such as LG, Sony, and Loewe offer in their respective flagship line-ups. Panasonic argues that its powerful picture processing engine will make HDR sparkle with intensity. Like EZ1000, EZ950 has been ‘UHD Premium’ and THX certified.

If you want to experience movies in the best quality you should connect a UHD Blu-ray player. The TV also offers access to streaming services such as Netflix and YouTube. An app for Amazon is coming later this year. The TV is also equipped with a twin-tuner.
EZ950 is available now in 55 and 65-inch formats across Europe.
