Samsung partners with Etsy to bring more artwork to The Frame

05 Nov 2020 | Rasmus Larsen |

The Frame has proven quite the hit for Samsung and a new partnership with Etsy will bring nature-inspired artwork to the TV's built-in digital art store.

The Frame is "designed to be a TV when it’s on and art when it’s off". It was first launched in 2017 and has been upgraded multiple times since, with new LCD technology and new bezels. The South Korean company has steadily been adding digital art to its art store, including digitized versions of famous paintings from da Vinci, Botticelli, and others. A new partnership with Etsy is bringing nature-inspired artwork to the built-in store. - "Available worldwide beginning October 28, the collection of imaginative and family-friendly art features five popular Etsy artists: Jorey Hurley, Elly Mackay, Melanie Mikecz, David Scheirer and Mirlande Jean-Gilles, who work in a variety of mediums from collage to watercolour. The 25 selected works from the artists feature a mix of vivid illustrations, colourful collages, and whimsical imagery and graphics," announced Samsung.

There are now over 1400 works of digital art available from the store. - "Our partnership with Samsung will provide an entirely new avenue for these artists to bring their creative inspiration directly into homes for people around the world," said Kelly Clausen, Senior Director of Strategic Partnerships, Etsy. Other manufacturers offer similar functionality but no other TV maker has gone as far as Samsung to position a TV as a screen for digital art in the home.
