13 Xbox Series X games get 120fps boost
Microsoft's 'FPS Boost' feature has increased the frame rate of 13 Xbox Series X games to 120fps, including Battlefield, Star Wars Battlefront, and Titanfall.Xbox FPS Boost
Microsoft enabled FPS Boost on Xbox Series X and Series S in February. The new feature is designed to nearly double the frame rate of existing Xbox games by utilizing the extra power in the new generation of consoles. - "Back in February 2021, we shared via Xbox Wire the backward compatibility team developed FPS Boost, a feature employing a variety of new methods for nearly doubling the original framerate on select titles. Higher, steadier framerates make games visually smoother, resulting in more immersive gameplay," explains Microsoft. At the time of writing, 23 games benefit from FPS Boost in some form. 10 of these games get a boost to 60fps and 13 games get a boost to 120fps for an even smoother game experience.However, it should be noted that FPS Boost sometimes need to reduce the game's resolution in order to achieve 120fps. In such cases, FPS Boost will be turned off by default so the user must manually enable it like this: 'Click on the game title -> Manage Game and add-ons -> Compatibility options -> FPS Boost'. To check if you are using FPS Boost simply press the Xbox button on the controller in-game. To enjoy Xbox games in up to 4K 120fps, your TV must feature an HDMI 2.1 input (and 120Hz support).
