The NEC 2490WUXi has been very popular in the states and now it’s finally been launched in Europe. The 24” display in the MultiSync 90 series has an H-IPS panel that is well suited for graphics works and editing. Coming in February 2009.

IPS panels are rare these days. HP recently presented their LP2475W (that we review soon) and now NEC launches the 2490WUXi monitor for the European market. Both feature a H-IPS panel with true 8 bit colours compared to 6 bit (+FRC) on the very popular and price competitive flat panel monitors with TN panels.

The panel offers a response time of 8 ms (g2g), 800:1 contrast ratio, 400 cd/m2 brightness and 1920x1200 resolution. The viewing angles are 178/178 degrees. The 2490WUXi also features a backlight with standard colour gamut for working with sRGB pictures.

The NEC 2490WUXi has also been equipped with the X-Light Pro feature. Here, an internal sensor measures color and brightness so that pre-set values are maintained for a long period of time. Apart from reducing the warm-up time, this also guarantees stable performance of the backlight over the total operating life of the device.

The monitor can be height adjusted by up to 150 mm. In addition, the display can be conveniently rotated so that, according to application, users can choose to deploy the device in landscape or portrait modes. The integrated AmbiBright feature automatically adjusts the brightness of the display according to the intensity of the ambient light.

Connection options are VGA and DVI-D.

Availability
The NEC 2490WUXi is will be available in Europe from February. It’s already available in the US.
