Toshiba unveiled new TVs with the CEVO engine, passive 3D, a new Smart TV interface.<br /><br /><i>Some features and model names may vary in your country. You can expect new TVs ranging from low-end to extremely high-end from Toshiba<br /><br /><p align=center><a id="thumb" href="pictures/toshiba2011press_large2.jpg" class="highslide" rel="highslide"><img class="imgresponsive" src="pictures/toshiba2011press_small2.jpg" alt="Toshiba’s 2011 TVs" title="Click to enlarge" /></a><br><i>Toshiba’s 2011 TVs</i></p><br />The new flagship model is called ZL1 and it will incorporate Toshiba’s CEVO engine, which is an extremely powerful processor that takes care of picture quality optimization. CEVO also enables LED local dimming on ZL1 in 512 zones to ensure extremely deep blacks with very few compromises.<br /><br /><p align=center><a id="thumb" href="pictures/toshiba2011press_large3.jpg" class="highslide" rel="highslide"><img class="imgresponsive" src="pictures/toshiba2011press_small3.jpg" alt="Toshiba’s 2011 TVs" title="Click to enlarge" /></a><br><i>Toshiba’s 2011 TVs</i></p><br />A new Smart TV platform has been developed called Toshiba Places. From here you have access to different video on demand services, YouTube, social media, games, an App Store and more.<br /><br /><p align=center><a id="thumb" href="pictures/toshiba2011press_large4.jpg" class="highslide" rel="highslide"><img class="imgresponsive" src="pictures/toshiba2011press_small4.jpg" alt="Toshiba’s 2011 TVs" title="Click to enlarge" /></a><br><i>Toshiba’s 2011 TVs</i></p><br />They also introduced a so-called Personal TV interface, which basically means that a small camera in the TV recognizes your face and personalizes your channel list, settings and more.<br /><br /><p align=center><a id="thumb" href="pictures/toshiba2011press_large5.JPG" class="highslide" rel="highslide"><img class="imgresponsive" src="pictures/toshiba2011press_small5.JPG" alt="Toshiba’s 2011 TVs" title="Click to enlarge" /></a><br><i>Toshiba’s 2011 TVs</i></p><br />LG, Vizio and Philips recently announced passive 3D TVs with the much cheaper polarized 3D glasses that you know from cinemas and Toshiba joins the choir with its introduction of passive 3D TVs under the name “Smart 3D”. But as most other manufacturers Toshiba also plans to release 3D TVs with active 3D shutter glasses, including the flagship CEVO models. See the new active 3D glasses below.<br /><br /><p align=center><a id="thumb" href="pictures/toshiba2011press_large7.JPG" class="highslide" rel="highslide"><img class="imgresponsive" src="pictures/toshiba2011press_small7.JPG" alt="Toshiba’s 2011 TVs" title="Click to enlarge" /></a><br><i>Toshiba’s 2011 TVs</i></p><br />A design partnership with Danish Jacob Jensen Design was announced in 2010 and this cooperation continues in 2011. Most new Toshiba TVs will come with Jacob Jensen’s minimalistic design philosophy and the choice of top quality materials.<br /><br /><p align=center><a id="thumb" href="pictures/toshiba2011press_large6.JPG" class="highslide" rel="highslide"><img class="imgresponsive" src="pictures/toshiba2011press_small6.JPG" alt="Toshiba’s 2011 TVs" title="Click to enlarge" /></a><br><i>Toshiba’s 2011 TVs</i></p><br />The last thing we want to highlight before we move on to the new TV ranges is Toshiba’s new automatic calibration. The high-end and mid-end models will come with integrated automatic calibration. You just need a hardware calibrator and you are set to go. You don’t need any experience in the calibration field because everything is 100 % automated. You just place the sensor in front of the screen and the TV will run the required test patterns. <br /><br /><h3>Toshiba CEVO ZL1</h3>Toshiba ZL1 in the flagship model with the CEVO system and LED local dimming in 512 zones. It also features 3D and Smart TV.<br /><br /><p align=center><a id="thumb" href="pictures/toshibazl1-1l.jpg" class="highslide" rel="highslide"><img class="imgresponsive" src="pictures/toshibazl1-1.jpg" alt="Toshiba ZL1" title="Click to enlarge" /></a><br><i>Toshiba ZL1</i></p><br /><li>CEVO engine<br /><li>Active 3D<br /><li>ProLED 512<br /><li>Smart TV (Toshiba Places and Personal TV)<br /><li>USB recording with 500 GB replaceable HHD<br /><li>DLNA + Wi-Fi<br /><li>Auto calibration<br /><br />Toshiba ZL1 will be available in 55 inches called 55ZL1.<br /><br /><h3>Toshiba CEVO YL863 & WL863</h3>Toshiba’s YL and WL ranges are a step down from ZL1. They still come with CEVO but with Edge LED instead of backlit LED. <br /><br /><p align=center><a id="thumb" href="pictures/toshibawl863-1l.jpg" class="highslide" rel="highslide"><img class="imgresponsive" src="pictures/toshibawl863-1.jpg" alt="Toshiba WL863" title="Click to enlarge" /></a><br><i>Toshiba WL863</i></p><br />YL is a white variant of WL.<br /><br /><p align=center><a id="thumb" href="pictures/toshibayl863-1l.jpg" class="highslide" rel="highslide"><img class="imgresponsive" src="pictures/toshibayl863-1.jpg" alt="Toshiba YL863" title="Click to enlarge" /></a><br><i>Toshiba YL863</i></p><br /><li>CEVO engine<br /><li>Active 3D<br /><li>ProLED 32<br /><li>Smart TV (Toshiba Places and Personal TV)<br /><li>USB recording<br /><li>DLNA + Wi-Fi<br /><li>Auto calibration<br /><br />Toshiba WL863 and YL863 will be available in 42, 46 and 55 inches called 42WL863, 46WL863 and 55WL863.
