LG to bring 4K resolution to 49" panels in early 2014
The first Ultra HD TVs we saw were 84” mammoths and in the recent months TV makers have unveiled or launched 65 and 55” Ultra HD TVs. In early 2013, LG will push Ultra HD / 4K resolution downwards into sub-50” panels with the introduction of a 49” panel, says DigiTimes.
LG has announced three Ultra HD TVs so far, 84, 65 and 55 inch variants
LG has released its 84” TV in limited quantities but has yet to release its 65” and 55” Ultra HD TVs. According to the same source, LG will start mass production of the 65 and 55” panels in August or September.
LG produces LCD panels for its own TVs but also sells LCD panels to other TV makers for use in consumer TVs. If LG starts producing 49” Ultra HD panels in early 2014 there is a good chance that we will see 49” Ultra HD TVs from several TV makers.
