YouTube Kids app debuts on Apple TV

YouTube Kids is now available on Apple TV. The app gives kids access to a contained environment with kids/family-friendly videos.

YouTube Kids for Apple TV

YouTube Kids launched on Android TV, LG webOS, and Samsung Tizen in 2017, and expanded to 13 additional countries in 2019. YouTube Kids is now available on tvOS in Apple TV HD and Apple TV 4K. The app can be launched manually or through a Siri command; "open YouTube Kids" Although YouTube's kid-friendly app has been criticized for serving up inappropriate videos, it is generally a safer environment for kids using YouTube compared to the general YouTube app where all videos are available.

- "We work hard to keep the videos on YouTube Kids family-friendly and use a mix of automated filters built by our engineering teams, human review, and feedback from parents to protect our youngest users online," said YouTube. The app remains unavailable on other popular TV platforms such as Amazon FireTV and Roku, both of which were also bypassed yesterday with the launch of HBO Max.
