Infuse 6.6 introduces 'Theater mode' for beaming Dolby Atmos and surround sound wirelessly to a pair of HomePods. Non-HomePod setups will also benefit, the company said.
HomePod home theater audio
In November 2020, Apple released tvOS 14.2 that introduced 'Home Theater with Apple TV 4K'. It enables HomePods connected wirelessly to Apple TV 4K to receive Dolby 5.1 and 7.1 surround as well as Dolby Atmos.
At that time, only a few apps supported the feature, such as Apple TV app, Disney+ (5.1) and HBO Max – other apps serve only stereo audio to HomePods. You can now add the popular media player app Infuse to the list.
- "The new HomePod home theater option allows you to utilize a HomePod stereo pair with your Apple TV 4K to create a theater experience with Dolby Atmos or surround sound right in your home. After enabling home theater, Infuse will be able to send high-quality audio directly to your HomePods, allowing more detail to be heard than ever before. The 6.6 update also leverages some of these improvements for non-HomePod setups — making things better all-around, for everyone," the company announced.
In addition, Infuse 6.6 includes a number of fixes and improvements including better support for Plex collections. The changelog is included at the bottom.

Infuse 7 coming this spring
The company said that it expects the next major version of Infuse to be available this spring. Infuse 7 will for the first time be available for macOS. It will also introduce a refreshed user interface on tvOS and iOS. Other features will be announced later.
FireCore said that "Infuse 7 (including Infuse for macOS) will be a free upgrade for all those with an Infuse Pro subscription".
