05 Dec 2022 | Rasmus Larsen |

After launching first on Hisense Vidaa-based Smart TVs, FIFA+ is now also available on Android TV and Google TV devices with original content, historic matches, and some live content.

You cannot watch the FIFA World Cup matches through the app but it offers companion content such as "thousands of hours of original, live and archive football and original programming" as well as a daily program focused on the World Cup events.

In addition, the FIFA+ app offers select live matches outside of the World Cup from leagues across the world, with an ambition to livestream 40,000 live matches in HD quality per year.

The app is now available on Android TV and Google TV devices including Chromecast, Nvidia Shield, and TVs from Sony, Philips, TCL etc.

- "Our priority is to bring our users the content they love. Through this collaboration, we're able to help World Cup fans around the world celebrate and tune in wherever they are through exclusive and engaging content across Android TV OS devices," said Jonathan Zepp, Managing Director, Media & Entertainment Partnerships, Google. - "FIFA+ represents the next step in our vision to make football truly global and inclusive, and it underpins FIFA’s core mission of expanding and developing football globally," FIFA President Gianni Infantino said earlier this year. "This project represents a cultural shift in the way different types of football fans want to connect with and explore the global game and has been a fundamental part of my Vision 2020-2023. It will accelerate the democratisation of football and we are delighted to share it with fans." FIFA+ is free to use with ads.
