8K TVs are not selling but that has not stopped Chinese display panel maker BOE from developing a 110-inch LCD TV panel with 16K resolution – 16 times more than 4K resolution. 16K resolution, or 15360x8640, delivers a total of 132.7 million pixels, which is four times as many as 8K resolution and 16 times as many as 4K resolution.BOE's 110-inch 16K LCD panel. DisplayPort 2.1 can actually push 16K 60Hz over a single cable but this part of the interface standard has not yet been deployed.High resolution, low-end specs
The 110-inch 16K LCD panel was showcased at SID Display Week 2023 in Los Angeles and while FlatpanelsHD did not attend this year, our German colleagues from Heise.de did and reported that picture "looks like it was printed". It is still a prototype LCD TV panel – not an actual TV yet. The bad news is that its other capabilities are not exactly high-end. It features a 60Hz IPS (ADS) LCD panel with maximum 400 nits brightness and only 1200:1 contrast ratio.
