Microsoft is raising Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Series X prices

22 Jun 2023 | Rasmus Larsen |

Microsoft's most powerful game console, Series X, will get more expensive in most countries and Xbox Game Pass pricing will increase everywhere.

Xbox Series X will increase to €550 in Europe, £480 in the UK, $650 in Canada, and $800 in Australia, but it will not happen until August 1, 2023, so you still have time to buy one before it happens. The price will not increase in the US, according to The Verge.

- "We’ve held on our prices for consoles for many years and have adjusted the prices to reflect the competitive conditions in each market," Kari Perez, head of communications for Xbox, told The Verge.

Xbox Series S pricing will not increase.

Sony announced a price increase for PlayStation 5 in August 2022.

First Xbox Game Pass price increase

For the first time, Microsoft will also increase the price of its Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscriptions. It appears that no markets will be spared once the price increases take effect on July 6 for new subscribers and August 13 for existing subscribers, although some markets will only see the Ultimate subscription go up in price. PC Game Pass will remain as is. The Xbox Game Pass app with game streaming over the internet is currently TV-exclusive to newer Samsung TVs but will arrive later on other TV platforms.
