Netflix ending support for some TVs, Blu-ray players & consoles

17 Oct 2023 | Rasmus Larsen |

This week, Netflix is ending support for more devices including older Smart TVs, Blu-ray players, PlayStation Vita, and PlayStation TV.

The Netflix app on the affected devices stopped working on October 16, according to the website Whats-on-Netflix.com.

Netflix has not released a full list of affected devices but it appears to affect mostly devices that are at least 10 years old.

Confirmed devices

The app has stopped working on older TVs from Sony, Panasonic and Hitachi, and most likely other brands too, as well as at least one Blu-ray player model from Samsung. In addition, it has been confirmed that both Sony's PlayStation Vita portable game console and the PlayStation TV box are affected. Before this purge, the most recent major one came in 2019 where Netflix ended support for pre-2012 Roku devices, older TVs from Samsung, Sony and Vizio, Home Theatre systems, and other devices. To continue using Netflix affected users must buy a new device. - Source: Whats-on-Netflix
