Samsung Display has today announced that mass-production of the 31.5-inch 4K QD-OLED monitor panel is starting. It expects to double shipments of QD-OLED monitor panels in 2024.
We already knew about the panel, as Asus, Dell and MSI have announced 32-inch 4K QD-OLED monitors for 2024 – one curved and two flat. Samsung Display, the manufacturer of the panel, has now confirmed the timing of mass-production.
- "Samsung Display, which drives the growth of the high-end display market with QD-OLED, announced on December 13 that it will start the mass production of 31.5-inch UHD (3840x2160) resolution QD-OLED from this month. This new product has achieved the highest pixel density and UHD resolution in self-emissive displays," the company announced in a press release.
The pixel density is 140 ppi (pixels per inch), which is equivalent to the pixel density of a 65-inch 8K TV, Samsung Display noted.
- "At present, self-emissive 30-inch displays generally adopt QHD (2560x1440) resolution, while consumers who like games and high-definition video content prefer UHD products."

In addition to the 32-inch QD-OLED panel with 4K and 240Hz, Samsung Display will start mass-production of a 27-inch QD-OLED panel with 2560x1440 resolution and 360Hz.
Samsung Display stated that the two new panels to be available "from the beginning of 2024".
