One of the highlights of CES 2024 is LG's transparent OLED TV, which can transform into a regular screen with a mechanical backplate that rolls up behind the panel. Here it is in action.
The TV was announced earlier this week and FlatpanelsHD has since had a chance to see it in action.
In its transparent state, LG OLED T – the official model name – can imitate an aquarium or show useful information such as the clock or other widgets. When you want to watch a movie, you can transform it into a regular screen with the press of a button. A mechanical backplate, hidden in rolled-up form at the bottom of the case, will then physically roll up behind the transparent OLED panel. All connection ports are tucked away in a separate box that wirelessly transmits video and audio, but you obviously still need to connect power to the actual TV.

And here you see the modified webOS user interface with apps and artwork features that are unique to the transparent OLED T, as well as the side of the product:
