Portrait Displays, known for Calman, has launched the new C6 HDR5000 colorimeter, designed to replace the existing C6 HDR2000, which customers can trade-in for a 50% discount.

To get started with TV and monitor calibration using Calman, you need a PC with the Calman app, a meter (the measurement device to place on the screen), and a pattern generator (built-in to the TV or a separate HDMI device).

This month, Portrait Displays is launching a new version of its meter, C6 HDR5000, that works exclusively with the Calman software, requiring Calman 5.15.6 or newer. For the first time, it is certified to be accurate up to 5000 nits, according to the company.

Trade-in for 50% discount
The C6 HDR5000 costs $795, but Portrait Displays is launching it with a 50% limited-time trade-in offer allowing customers to trade in an X-Rite, Spyder, Calibrite or C6 HDR2000 colorimeter.

The ability to measure 5000 nits of accuracy is increasingly important as high-end HDR TVs exceed 2000 nits or even higher luminance levels, which is the certified maximum level for the predecessor, the C6 HDR2000.
