The first 27-inch OLED monitors with 480Hz refresh rate and 1440p resolution should soon appear in stores as LG Display has begun mass production of the new panel.
The 27-inch 480Hz OLED panel follows the 32-inch version, which entered mass production in April. These are the world's first 480Hz OLED panels.
Display maker LG Display highlighted that the panels not only have the highest refresh rate of any OLED panel, at 480Hz, but also the fastest response time of just 0.2ms (GtG). They are designed specifically for gaming monitors.

All other factors being equal, 240Hz OLED panels already outperform 360Hz LCD panels in terms of motion blur, due to OLED's faster response time. Therefore, the new 480Hz OLED panels are expected to set a new benchmark for gaming performance, while also delivering HDR picture quality, something not possible with LCD gaming monitors.
The fastest QD-OLED monitor panel from Samsung Display currently reaches 360Hz.
First monitors coming soon
The first monitors based on the 27-inch panel have already been unveiled as the Asus PG27AQDP and the Acer X27U F3. LG Electronics has yet to announce its own version.

LG Display added that its new OLED monitor panels also feature microlenses (MLA) for improved energy efficiency and higher brightness.
- "(The) Gaming OLEDs are equipped with META Technology, which improves picture quality by harnessing Micro Lens Array (MLA) to maximize brightness and minimize reflections that can be particularly distracting if they appear on the screen during dark scenes," said LG Display.
The gaming monitor market will reach $12.78 billion this year and is expected to grow to over $15 billion in 2027, according to market research firm Omdia.
