Sony will be rolling out its PlayStation Now game streaming services to more European countries this year. A public beta will start in early February.

Game streaming on PS4 & PC
PlayStation Now has been called “Netflix for games”. Through a monthly subscription you gain access to a library of PS2, PS3, and PS4 games that can be streamed via online servers to a PlayStation 4 console or a Windows PC. In addition, PS2 and PS4 games can be downloaded to a PS4.

PlayStation Now is currently available in select regions only. Later this year, it will expand to Spain, Italy, Portugal, Norway, Denmark, Finland and Sweden. Sony said that gamers will have access to over 600 games.

- “ There’s something on offer for every type of player, from racing games to beat ’em ups, shooters to indies, RPGs to family fun, and everything in between. Recent titles to join the service include Prey, For Honor, Mafia III and DiRT 4, with more games added every month,” the company said.



Game streaming is not a new concept but it has had several false starts. OnLive, Gaikai, and GameFly have all launched and shut down game streaming services. Sony acquired the former two companies and went on to launch its PlayStation Now service. It was previously available across a number of devices, including Android TVs, but Sony decided to later discontinue apps on most platforms to focus on PS4 and Windows PCs.

Microsoft is also planning to launch a game streaming service. A public trial will begin this year.

Sony has not confirmed launch dates for the new regions but an open beta will start in early February. You can enroll here.
