A series of leaked images reveal the new compact and more affordable Sonos Ray soundbar that is expected to cost $249. Sonos is also planning to launch its own voice assistant.
Last month, a report by The Verge gave us the first details about a new compact Sonos soundbar codenamed 'Fury'. The publication has since reported that the final product will be known as Sonos Ray.
Twitter user SnoopyTech has now leaked a series of marketing photos that reveal the design and ports of the Sonos Ray. As you can see, it features only Ethernet and optical ports – not HDMI eARC.
The upcoming Sonos Ray soundbar
The soundbar's unique feature is that it can be used in vertical orientation as surround rear speakers together with another Sonos soundbar. In surround mode when paired to Sonos Arc, Ray will reportedly support Dolby Atmos. In standalone mode it will support Dolby Digital only.
Sonos Ray will be available in black and white and is expected to cost $249.

The company is reportedly also working on a 'Home Theater OS' project and its own "Hey Sonos" voice assistant. The latter could launch within the next few weeks on S2 compatible Sonos products in the US via a software update, according to The Verge. The next official Sonos event is scheduled for May 25.
