What would be the difference between American and European models from different manufacturers?

Not much. Primarily the built in tuners and the internet features. Some times features such as USB recording are left out of US models but on the other hand US models come with a wider range of internet services compared to EU models.

When it comes to picture quality the TVs are 99% identical.
