The Oculus Rift virtual reality headset received glowing praise at CES 2013 and is expected to ignite the Virtual Reality market. At E3, Oculus showcased a Rift prototype with Full HD displays.
Oculus Rift goes Full HD
Sony has a Virtual Reality headset to call its own but developers, and the industry in general, are putting their faith into another player; Oculus. Oculus has created the Rift that is expected to revolutionize the market.

Oculus Rift is a Virtual Reality device that sit in front of your vision
The biggest criticism of Oculus Rift has been its relatively low pixel resolution. At E3, Oculus addressed that and showcased a new prototype with Full HD – 1080p – displays. The current version uses 1280x800 pixel displays. Several people at E3 have chimed in and reported that picture quality is visibly better, making the experience even more immersive.
The displays inside the Oculus Rift sit very close to the user’s eyes, which means that high pixel resolution is required. Luckily, Oculus says, they can piggyback on the smartphone makers that race to increase pixel density in displays. The displays in the new ptoyotype are exactly that; mobile displays.
Oculus Rift devices have been sent out to developers but no plans for the Full HD version have been decided yet. The prototype was only made ready shortly prior to E3. However, Oculus has already said that they are working on a Oculus Rift 2.0 that will reach the consumer market. Another new feature that is said to be considered is wireless video tehcnology.
