LG exhibited a range of OLED TVs at IFA 2013, including the wildly impressive 77" Ultra HD OLED TV. LG now confirms that they will launch mainstream OLED TVs next year together with its first 4K OLED TVs, in an aggressive goal to dominate the future of the TV market.

Unless Samsung has something cooking the power balance between the South Korean makers could tip in the coming years. LG is challenging Samsung, and is very clear in its goal. LG wants to dominate the TV market as the number one TV maker.

To achieve this goal, LG is accelerating its launch plan for OLED TVs and 4K TVs. LG will also combine the two in 2014 with the launch of 4K OLED TVs for consumers. LG has not confirmed if that involves the 77" 4K OLED TV, but they emphasize that the OLED TVs will not only be sold through luxury retailers; they will reach the mainstream electronics dealers and warehouses - which likely also means that LG will introduce OLED TVs at significantly lower price points.
The first phase of the strategy is happening right now. In addition to the US and Europe, LG will launch its first OLED TVs throughout Asia and the Middle East, and in parts of Africa and the CIS region (Commonwealth of Independent States) before the end of 2013. LG plans to launch both the 55” curved OLED TV and the flat 55” Gallery OLED TV. LG says that they will also launch Ultra HD TVs in more than 50 countries before the end of the year.
