Like Yamaha and Samsung, Philips intends to sell a Dolby Atmos enabled soundbar later this year. The “Fidelio Soundbar with Dolby Atmos” uses 18 drivers to create a 5.1.2 sound space.

To fully enjoy the wonders of Dolby Atmos you need a full speaker setup but several manufacturers insist that a soundbar combined with Dolby Atmos can do wonders, too.
Philips’ first Dolby Atmos enabled soundbar is the company’s first “soundbar to feature 3D surround technology”. It has 18 drivers, including two up-firing speakers. Together with a 220W subwoofer that connects wirelessly to the soundbar, Philips claims to be able to reproduce 5.1.2 sound. Unlike Samsung’s soundbar, Philips’ soundbar does not use separate rear speakers.
The soundbar has two HDMI ports (one with ARC) as well as optical and coaxial ports. It also supports Bluetooth (aptX) for Music streaming. The housing is made from aluminum.
Philips’ Dolby Atmos soundbar will be available in the US the summer 2016 and in “late 2016” in Europe. No pricing details were announced.
