Vizio unveiled new TVs at CES but also released a new soundbar with 5.1 surround sound, optimized for 42” TVs. The subwoofer and rear speakers are wireless. It will cost 330 USD.

Vizio’s 5.1 soundbars

We saw plenty of soundbars at CES but Vizio has a quite interesting variant planned for release in 2013. Vizio announced a surround soundbar solution optimized for 42” TVs but a variant for 54” will also arrive later this year.

The 5.1 surround solution connects to a TV via HDMI in the actual soundbar. The subwoofer and the rear speakers connect wirelessly to the system so you can avoid cables running across the living room – but you obviously still new power cables. Vizio boasts “upwards of 102 dB of crystal clear audio with less than 1% Total Harmonic Distortion”.

The soundbar integrates Bluetooth for wireless music streaming from smartphones and tablets.

Vizio’s new 42” soundbar will be available soon for 330 USD. The 54” variant will be available later in 2013 with more information to follow.
