After LG recently announced its first 240Hz OLED monitor, MSI has confirmed that it will unveil a 49-inch 'super ultra-wide' 240Hz QD-OLED monitor at CES 2023.

OLED is taking the leap to 240Hz to supplant old and tired LCD-based gaming monitors. With high refresh rate, extremely fast response time and true HDR capabilities, PC monitors are finally catching up to and in some areas exceeding modern TVs.

One of the first 240Hz QD-OLED displays will be MSI's 491C that will be formally announced at CES 2023 in January. It is described as a super ultra-wide gaming monitor – probably 32:9.

- "The world's FIRST super ultra-wide curved gaming monitor, with a 240Hz QD-OLED panel, is out there to ensure you enjoy a viewing experience far better than anything you've had before. Get ready for CES2023 for the debut of our Project 491C," said MSI.

There is no information regarding resolution or other specifications but the QD-OLED panel will be made by Samsung Display. In April, Korean media reported that Samsung Display would start mass production of a 49-inch QD-OLED panel and it was later confirmed that it is in fact a monitor panel – not a TV panel.

Since this is a Samsung Display panel, we can probably expect Samsung Electronics to also launch a 49-inch QD-OLED monitor next year – possibly other manufacturers too.
