Asus unveils world's first 32" QD-OLED & 34" WOLED monitors with 240Hz

At Gamescom 2023, Asus has announced two 'world's firsts' in the OLED monitor industry with the 32-inch PG32UCDM (QD-OLED) and 34-inch PG34WCDM (WOLED).

The 32-inch Asus ROG Swift PG32UCDM, designed for gaming, features 4K resolution (3840x2160 in 16:9) and 240Hz refresh rate. It can be connected to a PC or game console via HDMI 2.1 or DisplayPort 1.4 (with DSC), and also supports VRR.

The higher resolution and faster refresh rate is made possible by a second generation QD-OLED panel produced by Samsung Display. The new generation has a slightly tweaked sub-pixel structure to help improve text clarity. The panel is flat. Since each pixel in an OLED panel is its own light source, you can get true, inky blacks," said Asus Peak brightness is 1000 nits (3% window) or 250 nits in full screen, made possible by an integrated heatsink in the panel plus a custom graphene film behind the panel.

34-inch WOLED

LG Display had just confirmed that it is planning to expand its OLED panel line-up to include 32, 34 and 39-inch panels, and now Asus has unveiled the first monitor built on the 34-inch panel. The Asus ROG Swift PG34WCDM, also designed for gaming, features 3440x1440 resolution in a 21:9 aspect ratio, and is curved. It too supports 240Hz refresh rate with VRR support. - "The 34-inch ROG Swift OLED PG34WCDM goes wide with a 3440x1440 resolution that can expand your field of view in first-person titles or give you a broader perspective on the action in games like Diablo IV. Its pronounced 800R curvature brings the sides of the display closer to your eyes to ensure accurate, vivid colors even at the edges of your vision," said Asus.

Asus says that it delivers 1300 nits peak brightness (3% window) or 650 nits at 10%, made possible by a custom heatsink and LG Display's MLA (Micro Lens Array) technology in WOLED. It can be connected via HDMI 2.1 or DisplayPort. With the launch of the 34-inch PG34WCDM next year there will be both 34-inch QD-OLED and WOLED monitors. The 34-inch WOLED has AG coating (matte) while the 32-inch QD-OLED has semi-glossy coating. The new Asus monitors will not be available until next year ("early 2024" for PG32UCDM), so expect additional monitors built on the new QD-OLED and WOLED panels to be announced in the meantime. Pricing details will be announced later.
