Fifteen years after Netflix launched its streaming service, it has reached the 50 million milestone. Netflix is planned a major expansion into Europe and has revealed more about the new TV series coming later in 2014 and 2015.
50 million Netflix viewers
Netflix could very well become the first international TV provider. They operate in most of North and South America and in several parts of Europe. In september, Netflix will expand to Germany, France and 4 other countries, and Australia is rumored to be next in line.
Netflix now has more than 50 million customers, but around 2 million are still in their trial period. Netflix expect that number to grow significantly to almost 54 million by the end of September, Netflix revealed in its latest financial report.
New TV series for 2014 and 2015
Netflix has also detailed its plans for new TV series. Season 3 of both House of Cards and Orange is the New Black is coming. Season 2 of Hemlock Grove and Derek has just been released. In august, Netflix will launch the fourth season of The Killing and a brand new animated series called BoJack Horseman.
The next big blockbuster from Netflix is expected to be Marco Polo, a magnificent TV series about the explorer. It is filming right at this moment. In addition, Netflix has planned a TV series about Marvel’s Daredevil and a horror series from the creators of Damages.
The Matrix creators are working on a science-fiction series called Sense8 and one of the creators of Friends is behind a comedy series called Grace and Frankie. Lastly, Netflix highlight Narcos, a TV series about the Colombian drug cartel led by Pablo Escobar.
