AOC launches affordable flicker-free monitors

17 Dec 2014 | Rasmus Larsen |

Most modern monitors with LED backlight use flicker to control the light intensity, which can cause eyestrain or worse after prolonged use. AOC launches two new affordable flicker-free 22 and 24-inch monitors for the office.

Are you sitting in front of the monitor every day? Then you might consider switching to a flicker-free monitor that can prevent eyestrain, headache, and even "retinal degeneration," according to the AOC. AOC is launching the new 22-inch E2276VWM6 and 24-inch E2476VWM6 with flicker-free backlights and "Anti-Blue light" technology.

AOC writes:
"According to a substantial body of evidence, excessive exposure to the blue light of display devices causes retinal stress, which is directly related to the forming of age-related macular degeneration, or ARMD. The symptoms of this disease are deterioration or complete loss of the central vision. Past efforts towards diminishing displays' harmful blue light were predominantly limited to software-based approaches and blocking out the blue light through filter mechanisms such as special spectacles or cover glass in front of screens. As a result, however, users had to accept negative effects on the colour fidelity.

Both monitors come with a 1920x1080 pixel resolution and a TN panel. The monitors are targeted at office use but can also be used for video and gaming (1 ms response time). Additionally, you can connect phones, tablets and movie players via HDMI. The monitors are wall-mountable but the stand only offers tilt adjustment.

AOC E2276VWM6 and E2476VWM6 are available now for around 110 and 130 UK pounds. The 24-inch will also be available in the US for $199 USD.
