After the launch of the cheaper HD version of Chromecast with Google TV, Google is now preparing the launch yet another device, reports 9to5Google.

If you were considering buying a new 4K Chromecast you may want to wait a bit to see what Google has in store.

- "In the latest preview update to the Google Home app, the company includes early preparation for a new Google TV device, referred to as “YTC.” Elsewhere in the code, it’s directly confirmed that this is indeed a “Chromecast with Google TV” — alongside previous models “YTV” (Chromecast with Google TV) and “YTB” (Chromecast HD)," reported 9to5Google. 


 Chromecast with Google TV is currently available in two versions; 4K and HD

The publication believes that it is a Chromecast "with a higher set of specs to replace its current flagship offering" but it has no concrete details about the device right now. It makes sense, through, given that the current 4K Chromecast has not been refreshed since 2020.

What could a new 4K Chromecast bring to the table? AV1 decoding for improved video streaming support seems plausible and we hope to also see faster hardware and increased storage capacity.
